Repel Shaytan Through Obedience

If Shaytan looks at you and sees that you are consistent in the act of obedience to Allah, he will try to come to you again and again. If he sees that you are persistent in your actions (despite his efforts), he will tire of you and leave. But if he sees that you are one day like this, one day like that, he will have high hopes in you.

“He promises them and entices them; what the devil promises is no more than an illusion.”

(An-Nisa’ 4:120)

“O you who believe, you shall embrace total submission; do not follow the steps of Satan, for he is your most ardent enemy.”

(Al-Baqarah 2:208)

The words of al-Hasan al-Basri  رحمة الله have much wisdom behind them, contemplating them allows us to realize our internal state of affairs and to rectify ourselves so as to fall within these verses:

“As for My servants, you have no power over them. Your Lord suffices as an advocate”

(Al-Isra’ 17:65)

“Except those among Your worshipers who are devoted absolutely to You alone.” He said, “This is a law that is inviolable. “You have no power over My servants. You only have power over the strayers who follow you.”

(Al-Hijr 15:40-42)

“He has no power over those who believe and trust in their Lord. His power is limited to those who choose him as their master, those who choose him as their god.”

(Al-Nahl 16:99-100)

“He said, ‘I swear by Your majesty, that I will send them all astray. Except Your worshipers who are devoted absolutely to You alone.'”

(Saad 38:82-83)
