Short Reflection

“…My success comes only through Allah. In Him I trust, and to Him I turn.”

(Surah Hud 11:88)

Acknowledging the True Source of Success

Every achievement is only possible by Allah’s permission. Our talents, plans, and hard work are tools, but the tawfīq, the enabling grace to succeed, belongs solely to Him. This nurtures humility: we strive, yet never claim credit as if we are independent of our Creator.

Tawakkul – Placing Trust in Allah

“In Him I trust” (عليه توكلت) highlights a vital balance. We take practical steps, yet our hearts rely on Allah’s wisdom, not merely on results. True trust is active, not passive—it motivates effort while easing anxiety over outcomes.

Turning Back to Allah (Inābah)

“…and to Him I turn” (وإليه أُنيب) reflects a constant return through repentance, gratitude, and the realignment of intentions. Success is not only measured by worldly achievement but by the purification of the heart and closeness to Him.

Everyday Application

  • Begin every pursuit—studies, business, or personal goals—with sincere intention (niyyah).
  • Work diligently, while remembering that guidance, timing, and opportunity are gifts from Allah.
  • In moments of setback, remind yourself that His plan is always wiser than ours.

This verse calls us to strive without arrogance, trust without despair, and keep our hearts anchored in Allah, knowing that ultimate success lies in His pleasure and the eternal reward of the Hereafter.

Wallahu’alam.
