It was one of those days when we just went with the flow. The plan was simple: a quick road trip to Morib, Selangor. After breakfast at home, we hit the road for what turned out to be a smooth, relaxing drive.
A little over an hour later, we reached Morib Beach — only to find it closed for upgrading works. No lepak session today!
Luckily, I knew the area well enough to steer us toward Pantai Kelanang, just a few kilometres away. And that morning, it was absolutely beautiful — calm at first, then lively as busloads of schoolkids arrived.
As we were about to leave, I noticed something interesting on Google Maps — a museum nearby! Since I’m on a personal quest to visit 200 local museums and galleries (more on that another time), off we went to the Muzium Insitu Jugra.
Located at the foot of Bukit Jugra, the museum occupies a restored 19th-century police station and prison built in 1878 by British officer Capt. Harry Charles Syers. Once housing a courtroom upstairs and prison cells below, it’s now home to exhibits on the Selangor Sultanate, Jugra’s royal landmarks, and even two WWII-era armoured trucks once used by the police during the Emergency.
From there, we drove up Bukit Jugra — just 120m high, but offering breathtaking views and a surprise sight: tandem paragliders floating in the distance. We just sat there, soaking in the breeze and quiet charm of the place.
On the way home, we stumbled upon a cosy café: Rose Coffeehaus in Kampung Sungai Buaya, Banting. With its cool air-conditioning, charming decor, and great coffee, it was the perfect end to a road trip that didn’t go as planned… but turned out all the better for it.
